The NCSC is the ‘technical authority’ in the UK for cyber incidents. It is part of GCHQ, and was formed to provide a unified national response to cyber threats. As part of its remit, the NCSC produces weekly threat reports and as well as cyber warnings about emerging threats. It also produces guidance for businesses on matters such as home working, video conferencing services and cloud backup options for mitigating the threat of ransomware. In 2018 NCSC produced its first report on the cyber threat to the legal sector, which also considered how UK law firms can protect themselves from common cyber threats.
